A Harvey House Home page

Clovis, NM

Information updated August 5, 2002

Harvey House Fans, I got this email on July 30, 2002 and must pass it on to you. Mrs. Reynolds sent some pictures of Syracuse, KS with this note. A few days ago, she sent some pictures of her father- and mother-in-law taken shortly after World War I in Clovis. You make this site possible. Thanks to all of you for your support.

Mrs. Louise Reynolds writes:

My son asked me to send you some Harvey House information that we have. My father-in-law, Earl Augustus Reynolds was a Harvey House chef for over thirty years.

At 16 he started as a dishwasher in Syracuse and in 18 months had worked himself up to chef. He had gone to the Belen, New Mexico Harvey House and left to enter service in WWI. When he got out of the military he was assigned to Clovis, New Mexico and was chef there till it closed in the 40's. He lived the rest of his life in Clovis.

He met and married a Harvey House Girl and they became parents of one son (my husband).
